Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Korea Republic in their opening match of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Head coach Christopher Danjuma acknowledged the tough nature of the match, praising his team’s resilience and determination.
“It was a tough match, being the first match,” Danjuma said. “The victory is sweet because it puts your foot in the group.”
Despite the win, Danjuma recognized the areas where his team could improve. “My team performed well, but I know we’re going to perform much, much, much better than this,” he stated.
The Falconets now face a challenging task in their next match against Germany, a strong contender in the tournament. The team will be aiming to build on their initial success and continue their journey towards glory.
