The Director of the Sports Unit, University of Ilorin Professor Tajudeen Ibrahim stated that the University management has approved more than 4 Million Naira to register her athletes for the FASU games which will be hosted by the University of Lagos and Lagos State University.
In an interview conducted by Olayinka Salaudeen at the Special Fitness Session organized by Unilorin FM to mark the Radio’s 15th Anniversary.

He continued that the School participated in the 2023 WAUG hosted by OAU some months ago, in the last NUGA games, and that plans are in place to join in the coming FASU games.
He said, “FASU is all African University Games and we’re ready, the University is ready to support as we’re about to register our athletes.
“We’re about to register as the University has approved more than 4 Million Naira to register our athletes and officials that will participate so we are ready to go there and that’s the situation.
Recall that the University of Ilorin has been one of the most active institutions in inter-tertiary competitions in Nigeria and it was evident as Unilorin emerged 4th and 8th at the NUGA games and WAUG Championships respectively.

Professor Tajudeen Ibrahim also assured the University community that the VC’s Cup will continue next session and subsequent editions of the cup will even be more elaborate than this year’s edition.
While assuring the University Community about the continuity of the cup, he said that the Competition is a Statutory competition and should have been organized by the Students Union but they couldn’t due to some unknown reasons and that is why the Sports Unit took it upon itself to organize the competition.
The All-Africa University Games will be held from 20th – 29th September 2024 where top universities across Africa will compete for Glory.
