Despite Udinese‘s recent 2-0 home defeat to Torino, Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been honored with the Player of the Month award for February. This recognition underscores Okoye’s remarkable form throughout the month, despite the setback in the team’s performance.
Okoye’s exceptional contributions were evident in all four of Udinese’s Serie A matches in February, where he played a pivotal role in securing two wins, a draw, and one loss. Notably, he managed to keep clean sheets in games against both Monza and Juventus.

This accolade is a testament to Okoye‘s resurgence since joining Udinese last summer. In his 13 Serie A appearances this season, he has maintained three clean sheets while conceding a total of 18 goals. Remarkably, according to stats provider Opta, Okoye has not committed a single error leading to a goal since becoming Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Okoye’s stellar performances could potentially pave the way for a recall to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.

However, he faces stiff competition from Stanley Nwabali, who solidified his position as the number-one goalkeeper with his standout performances at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
