In a dramatic final of the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Masai Russell of the United States emerged victorious in a photo finish.
Russell clocked a time of 12.33 seconds, narrowly edging out France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela, who finished just a hundredth of a second behind at 12.34 seconds.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico completed the podium with a bronze medal, finishing with a time of 12.36 seconds.
The defending world record holder, Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, was notably absent from the final.
Amusan, who has been a dominant force in the event, failed to advance past the semifinals after recording a time of 12.55 seconds.
