As I sat down to write this piece, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for Aliyu Zubahir, the technical adviser of Elkanemi Warriors. Just a day before the Federation Cup final, I had the privilege of meeting him at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where his team was preparing to face Abia Warriors.

Despite his busy schedule, Zubahir granted me an interview, apologizing for keeping me waiting. When I asked about his team’s preparation, he exuded confidence: “We’re here to win the trophy. We don’t have any excuse not to.”

The next day, Elkanemi Warriors proved their determination, dominating the game with beautiful football and creating numerous chances. After the match, Zubahir spoke about his belief in young players, citing Messi and Neymar as examples.

Under Zubahir’s guidance, Elkanemi Warriors achieved a remarkable double: promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League and the Federation Cup title. His success is a testament to his coaching prowess, and I have no doubt he will lead the team to even greater heights in the coming season.
