The Super Eagles camp in Uyo is a hive of activity as players continue to arrive ahead of their crucial opening match in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic on Saturday, September 7th.
Early Arrivals and Team Leaders
Team captain William Troost-Ekong, fresh off his transfer to Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League, wasted no time in joining his teammates.
Despite the recent collapse of his move to Paris Saint-Germain, forward Ademola Lookman demonstrated his dedication by arriving early for camp.
Other players who reported early include Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Semi Ajayi, South Africa-based defender Olisa Ndah, Wilfred Ndidi, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Stanley Nwabali, the 11th player to arrive, joined the camp shortly after Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.
Former Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, is also present, bolstering the goalkeeping options.
Super Eagles Coaching Staff Announced
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the coaching staff that will guide the Super Eagles through the upcoming qualifiers:
Augustine Eguavoen will continue his role as interim head coach.
Tomaz Zorec will take charge of fitness duties as the team’s fitness coach.
Eboboritse Uwejamomere will provide tactical insights as the match analyst.
Fidelis Ilechukwu (Enugu Rangers coach) and Daniel Ogunmodede (Remo Stars coach) will join Eguavoen’s staff as assistant coaches, bringing their experience and expertise.
Focus on the Match
Following their encounter with Benin Republic, the Super Eagles will embark on a trip to Kigali, Rwanda for their second matchday clash against the Amavubi on Tuesday.
The match will kick off at 3 PM Rwanda time (2 PM Nigeria time) at the Amahoro Stadium.
With the arrival of key players and the confirmation of the coaching staff, the atmosphere in the Super Eagles camp is undoubtedly charged with focus and determination.
