Victor Osimhen has made a surprising move to Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season. The Nigerian international’s decision to leave the Serie A champions was driven by a breakdown in his relationship with the club and his agent, Roberto Calenda.
Following a tumultuous transfer deadline day, where deals with Al Ahli and Chelsea fell through, Osimhen grew disillusioned with the handling of his future. Social media was rife with criticism directed at Calenda, who was blamed for the failed negotiations.
Feeling betrayed by those around him, Osimhen took matters into his own hands. He bypassed his agent and enlisted the help of Turkish intermediary George Gardi. Gardi, known for facilitating Dries Mertens’ move to Galatasaray, leveraged his connections to expedite the transfer process.
Osimhen’s decision to leave Napoli was seemingly inevitable after the breakdown in his relationship with the club. Manager Antonio Conte made it clear that there was no place for him in the team, leaving him with limited options as the European transfer window closed.
The loan deal to Galatasaray includes a break clause in January, allowing Osimhen to potentially join a top European club if a suitable offer arises.
