The Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State branch, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, has revealed the reasons for organizing the competition.
Ogunsiji revealed this at the final of the third edition held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
He said that the competition was part of “our contributions to security officers protecting the lives of the citizens,” adding that the tournament also fosters unity among the security agencies.
“The game has come to stay,” he said.
He urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to take up the competition and sponsor it annually.
NAIRA SPORTS reported that the Police defeated the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) 6-5 in the penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regular time.
The Nigerian Correctional Service team won by a walkover after the opposing team, the Nigeria Customs Service, failed to turn up for the match.
At the final are the Commissioner for Forestry, Taiwo Oludotun, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Wale Olanrewaju, former Chairmen of SWAN, and other major stakeholders.
