After conclusion of the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations ( AFCON ) in Ivory Coast, Confederation of African ( CAF) shifted focus to the next edition with Morocco as hosts in 2025.
A draw for the preliminary round involving eight lowest ranked teams was conducted on 20th February, 2024 by the continental football custodians.
Somalia, Eswatini, Djibouti, Liberia, Chad, Mauritius, Sao Tome, and South Sudan were the eight countries in contention.
Scheduled to take place during the March International window, the preliminary round games get underway this Wednesday.
Played on home and away criteria, the 4 ultimate winners from here join the other 44 exempted nations for the group stages.
