African Games: Uganda eye gold against Hosts Ghana

Uganda will vie for gold with hosts Ghana in finals of the Men’s football tournament at the 13th edition of African Games.

Taking the continental showpiece by storm, the East African giants once again put a show against Congo to reach the final.

From two goals down at halftime, Uganda were re-surgent in the final stanza, scoring four goals on return.

Abasi Kyeyune kick-started Uganda’s dramatic comeback, pulling one back after an hour played.

Forward Bruno Bunyaga added in two more goals before substitute Hakim Mutebi completed the rout in the 81st minute.

The victory marked their fourth in as many games after triumph against Nigeria, Senegal and South Sudan at the group stage phase.

For Ghana, they needed a 83rd minute late winner from substitute Michael Ephson to scramble past Senegal.

The anticipated final showdown will be played on Friday, 22nd March, 2024 at Accra Sports Stadium.
