Heartland Queens set to unleash Adamawa as NWFL resumed

Heartland Queens Aim to take down Nasarawa Amazons in NWFL Premiership

Heartland Queens will hope to cement their hands on the lead when they confront the wayfarers from Yola, Adamawa Queens in the NWFL Premiership matchday 8 clash on Wednesday, February 14 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

The Yola side won the first banter 2-1 in Gombe, the fixture clash that ended football hostilities in the first stanza of the topflight.

That victory somehow has conferred on Adamawa Queens a chalk like edge over the Owerri mainstreams being the first time topflight matchup between the premier leaguers after a fierce goalless draw in 2021 NWFL Championship promotion playoffs in Abuja.

However, the reverse fixture on Wednesday will be a different keg of gunpowder as the Owerri landladies will not only go for the jugular of their opponents but target a goal feast in order to hang on her leadership position.

The Owerri side conjurewoman, Mary Lucky who missed the action in Gombe due to national assignments is back on the saddle to lead the onslaughts for the crucial victory, and will be ably aided by the bullish stand-in tormentor-in-chief, Chinedu Chinaka, Chimebere Opara and slippery Onyinyechi Kalu, who scored the match opener that later turned out to be a consolation for her side in Gombe.

The Owerri side gaffer, Obi Ogbala, who has been unsmiling since the sore loss in Gombe is somehow relieved with the return and availability of Minister of Defence and hard-as-nail centre back, Onyedikachi Ekezie from national duty. Options and compliments will come from the steel legs in the persons of Nnenna Williams, Chinyere Iheoma, Oluomachi Onwere and Kelechi Orgii.

High performer and reliable netminder, Uchenna Chukwu will keep her gloves while options to supply the killer passes will come from former junior international, Oluchi Ofoegbu, Oluchi Okwara, Marvellous Duru, among others.

Of course, the Owerri side understand the theatrics bedded in the business end of the league, the lows of being beaten twice in a season by same side as well as the aura that goes with a leader and are expected to go all out as well push hardest aimed at kick-starting the second term campaign on a resounding winning note.

Heartland Queens lead the eight-team group’s log on 11 points same as close challengers and new comers, Dannaz Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens on superior goals.
