NWFL: Onome’s assist not enough as Nasarawa Amazons defeats Naija Ratels in Abuja

I am still Super Falcons captain - 40-year-old Onome Ebi declares

Nasarawa Amazons displayed superiority in their 2023/24 NWFL campaign opening clash against against Naija Ratels as they picked up a 1-3 away win to ruin Super Falcons captain Onome Ebi’s historic league return.

With the NWFL kick- off brought forward to 14th Nov by the league body, the curtain raiser game between defending champions Delta Queens and debutant Ekiti Queens met with fans expectations as both side played out a goalless draw in front of a massive home crowd with the NFF president Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, NWFL chief Mrs Nkechi Obi and other top dignitaries all in attendance.

Onome Ebi who was making her first official league debut since her return to the Nigerian Women Premiership endured a not so good outing as her side lost 1-3 to the ruthless visitors.

Naija Ratels did get a consolation goal via the captain’s assist through Davies Nora in the 91st minute but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback against the determined visitors.

This result means Nasarawa Amazons sit top of the log pending the results of other games that will be played later today.
