With his arrival, Osimhen would be the first Super Eagles player to have arrived for the competition, as the team looks forward to camping in the United Arab Emirates.
He made his AFCON debut at the 2019 AFCON hosted by Egypt, where he came in as a substitute to replace Odion Ighalo in the third-place match with Tunisia. The half remained the only game he has played at AFCON, as he missed the 2021 edition in Cameroon due to injury.
