Quadri Aruna ranked 13th in the world in latest ITTF ranking

Aruna’s quality thrilled Ma Long at WTT Champions Macao

Following his quarterfinal finish at WTT Star Contender Goa in India, Quadri Aruna’s fortunes in latest ITTF Ranking yielded positively as the Nigerian has risen to 13th in the world.

Regarded as one of the best players to have emerged from Africa, Aruna gained more points from Goa to displace South Korea’s Jang Woojin to retain his spot as the highest ranked African in the world.

A delighted Aruna described the leap as a call for more hardwork. “Getting up sometimes might look easy but staying up there needs a lot of hardwork and I hope I can continue to give my best,” he told Sportafricana.com.

Also, winner of the WTT Star Contender Goa Felix Lebrun of France remains the biggest mover in the top 10 as the teenage sensation rose to sixth in the latest rating.

Egypt’s Omar Assar who failed to go beyond the second round in Goa after a narrow loss to Portugal’s Tiago Apolonia remains glue to 20th in the world rating.

Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh and Mohamed El-Beiali are the third and fourth best ranked African players rated 52 and 62 respectively.

Nigeria’s second-best ranked player in the world remains Taiwo Mati who is rated 106 while 2019 African Games champion Olajide Omotayo is 109 in the ranking.
