Rivers Angels head coach, Whyte Ogbonda, is confident his team can secure victory against Bayelsa Queens in the opening match of the NWFL Super Six.
Speaking to NAIRA SPORTS after the draw ceremony in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, Coach Ogbonda acknowledged the challenge.
“We’re playing against the home team, and it’s going to be a tough opposition. But at the end of the day, we’re going for the three points.”

He emphasized the fans’ expectations back home in Port Harcourt, “The fans are expecting the trophy back home. Winning the trophy will lead us to represent Nigerian clubs at the CAF WAFU B Champions League.”
Ogbonda stressed the importance of consistent focus, “We’re going to prepare for every game with the same energy. All six teams that made it to this stage are champions in their own right. Every team has the opportunity to win the trophy.”
Addressing a question from NAIRA SPORTS about the team’s journey to the Super Six, Coach Ogbonda acknowledged the challenges, “The journey wasn’t easy, but the players took responsibility on the pitch, and we were able to qualify.”
With a determined coach and motivated players, Rivers Angels appear ready to make a strong run for the NWFL Super Six title.
