In a post-tournament statement, Odey asserted, “NPFL players have the qualities for the Super Eagles; it’s about giving them opportunities, irrespective of playing in Europe or Nigeria, as football is about individual quality.”

The former MFM player, with 27 goals in 55 matches for the now-defunct club and the all-time goalscorer for The Olukoya boys, referenced Sunday MBA, stating that other players could replicate success given opportunities.
