Heartland football club of Owerri were held to a 1-1 draw by Rivers United at the Dan Anyiam stadium on Wednesday 1st of November mid week fixtures of the Nigerian Premier football league.
Irate fans of the club who refused to accept the full time result began chanting “Obi must go” insisting that the Heartland FC technical adviser Coach Christian Obi and Promise Nwachukwu led management must give way for capable hands to run the affairs of club and pilot the club back to safety.
Heartland took the lead in the first half through the lanky strike Onyedikachi Okafor in the 18th minutes, but consided an Equalizer through Rivers United Mohammad’s sublime free kick in the 37minutes.
The game ended 1 a piece for both sides.
With the draw Heartland now sits at the bottom of the league table with just four points from 4 draws while Rivers United sits at the 10th position with 8 points.
Heartland will now look to battle Enugu Rangers in their next fixture in Enugu.
In another news, the commissioner for Youths and Sports Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo has given Heartland management and crew, two match ultimatum to secure a win but so far, the crew were only able to secure a draw at home and a lose against Abia warriors in their last match.
The irate fans now look up to the commissioner to slam the hammer on the incapable coaching crew and management.
What will become of coach Christian Obi’s faith and Mr Promise Nwachukwu, we will know in the coming days.
All eyes is now on the government for reactions as Heartland anticipate a turnaround in the league table.
