Nigeria’s sole representative at the Africa Football League, Enyimba, will hope to do the impossible by defeating Wydad AC away in Morocco.
Speaking to journalists at the pre-match press briefing, the coach of the current Nigeria Premier Football League Champions, Enyimba, Finidi George, has expressed confidence that his team will be able to overturn the 1-0 defeat they suffered at The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday against their Moroccan counterparts.
Finidi restated the team’s aim to qualify for the semifinals of the money-spinning competition.
The Peoples Elephant arrived in Morocco on Tuesday after their flight to the Kingdom was delayed due to technical issues, resulting in the postponement of the match from Wednesday, 25th, to Thursday, 26th.
Finidi said, “If the match was today, I would have been concerned about not getting enough rest, but the match is tomorrow, and we have a good amount of time to prepare for it.”
Finidi also expressed his belief in the team, which consists of a mixture of experience and youth, with the addition of Daniel Daga, the former U17 star, to the team. He stated, “We have a young team, but all the players have dreams, and we are here to achieve victory and qualification. This will happen if all the players deliver a good performance.”
The Peoples Elephant will kick off its game at 7 pm Nigerian Time on Thursday.
