The Democratic Republic of Congo has turned down Manchester United‘s right back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s request to represent the country at the international level.
This decision follows the nation’s fourth-place finish at the 2023 African Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast. The 26-year-old player expressed his readiness to represent the DRC, but the request was surprisingly declined by the Football Association in DRC.

The federation cited Wan-Bissaka’s prior rejection of the offer to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo, opting instead to pursue a spot with England’s national team.
A source within the Federation commented, “We simply do not want him. He is akin to someone you ask for an affair, and upon rejection, they return hoping for a wealthier partner. When that fails, they come back with their tail between their legs.”
