AfricanGames: Uganda down Senegal to seal Semi-final spot

Ambrose Ahimbisibwe

Uganda continued their fairytale start at the ongoing African games in Accra with yet another win on Monday evening.

This was their second victory in as many games played so far at the groupstages.

After picking a 2-1 result against heavyweights Nigeria in opener, Africa champions Senegal are the latest side to succumb to the East African giants.

The hippos were 1-0 winners over the 2015 champions thanks to Allan Oyirwoth’s first half goal.

With six points in 2 games, Uganda became the first nation to book a spot in the Semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Nigeria made return to winning ways after a devastating false start to the campaign.

The flying Eagles beat debutants South Sudan 1-0 courtesy of Sadiq Isiyaka, moving level on points ( 3) with Senegal.

Group B action winds up on Friday as Uganda tussle it out against South Sudan at University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Nigeria and Senegal face each other at Accra Sports Stadium to determine who joins Uganda in the semis.
