The Captain of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Onome Ebi, has declared that she is still the Captain of the Nigeria Women’s national side, Super Falcons.
Ebi is the only African player (male or female) to feature six times in the FIFA World Cup.
The veteran Super Falcons captain joined the Abuja-based NWFL Naija Ratels in a sensational move that shocked the people.
The decorated defender with a wealth of experience admitted that joining the NWFL again is a dream fulfilled for her.
“I am thrilled to join Naija Ratels and contribute to the club’s growth and success. I have been impressed by the club’s ambition and professionalism, and I am confident that we can achieve great things together.
“I agreed to sign a deal with Naija Ratels to keep fit and my place in the national team. Also, I agreed to return to the domestic league to fulfil my longtime dreams,” she said.
I am still Super Falcons captain – Ebi declares
The Captain, who led her team to a defeat against Dannaz Ladies in NWFL Matchday Two, unveiled that she is still with the team and believes in them.
Since her return to the NWFL, Pulse Sports reported that Ebi’s name has been missing in the last two Super Falcons lists submitted by the team’s acting head coach, Justin Madugu.
“Whoever the coach calls to the Super Falcons at this time is best for the team; all I will say is that I am 100% with my team, and I am still the Captain of the team. If am there or not I am with them, and I believe that people who are there now can do justice,” she told Pulse Sports.
