The 1994 African Cup of Nations winner, Peter Rufai, has pledged his support for the Ibeju Lekki Football League.
Nothing less than 20 teams are expected to participate in the Ibeju-Lekki League in a home-and-away format.
Rufai who earned 65 appearances for Nigeria and represented the nation at two FIFA World Cups in 1994 and 1998 as their first-choice goalkeeper was a guest during the draw ceremony of the League.
The former Stationery Stores goalkeeper advised the youths to be focused and sought the blessings of the elders to support the youths.
He said, “This league will also transform our children because they are our future and it is our responsibility to do everything we can do to support them.
“I got the support from the elders in Lagos and that was why i succeeded with stationary stores, i only play one year with them and they invited me to the National team, Green Eagles at age 17.
“I will support the organizers to discover talents in Ibeju Lekki.”
The Ibeju Lekki Football League is slated to start in November across the local government.
