Yusuf’s recent at the ongoing National Tennis Juniors Tournament in Lagos showcased not only his exceptional talent but also his mental resilience. Down a set and facing a seemingly impossible comeback, he displayed remarkable grit and tactical prowess to turn the tide and emerge victorious.

Reflecting on his performance, Yusuf spoke about the distinct challenges and strategies required for success on different court surfaces.
“Having not played on clay since 2021,” Yusuf admitted, “it took some time to adjust my rhythm. Hard courts offer more consistent movement and ball trajectory, while clay demands a whole new level of focus. The unpredictable nature of the surface requires precise footwork and the ability to adapt quickly to the ball’s variations during rallies.”
Beyond his on-court dominance, Yusuf revealed his admiration for Jannik Sinner, a rising star on the international tennis scene. Sinner’s meteoric rise and consistent performances have garnered him immense respect. For Yusuf, Sinner is not just a role model for his tennis skills but also for his composure and mental fortitude under pressure.

“Watching Jannik Sinner compete inspires me,” Yusuf says. “His focus is what I aim to emulate in my own game.”
Driven by determination and talent, Yusuf sets his sights on the international stage. He was part of the Squad of team Nigeria at the just concluded African games in Accra.
