Why FIFA, CAF Ignored Nigerian Referees For International Competitions – FIFA Instructor

FIFA instructor, Olori Olajumoke Adebisi Odeniran has revealed why Nigeria’s Referees are being ignored for International competitions.

Olori made this statement while he was training match commissioners at the 2023 NFF Match Commissioners seminar.

The seminar for Southern province washeld at the NUT hall, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The Nigeria Football Federations trained over 250 Match commissioners ahead of the country second division League, Nigeria National League kick off.

NNL will kick off on October 28 and the Nigeria women football League (NWFL) will kick off on November 15.

Olori who was part of the instructor disclosed that the country is not ripe to use Video Assistant Refeeree (VAR) yet.

She said, “You don’t expect FIFA and CAF to drop referees that uses VAR every week for Nigerian referees that do not understand this technology.

“We have to key into this technology or else we will continue to lag behind others and this is why our referees are not called for international competitions.

“We are not their yet to use VAR because they are still some things to put in place for FIFA to approve the usage of VAR.”

Meanwhile, The Chairman for NFF Match Commissioner Committee, Alhaji Babgana Kalli, warned match Commissioners not to negligent their activities.

He added that NFF will sanction any of them that anyone that don’t dress appropriately will be sanctionedd.
