Zambia international Barbra Banda starts US expedition

Over the weekend, the Copper Queens forward was welcomed by a cross-section of fans in Florida upon touchdown in the United States.

Ranked as the second most expensive women footballer, Barbra Banda joins the National Women’s Soccer League ( NWSL) from Shanghai Shengli.

The 24 year old was yet to report at Orlando Pride since that blockbuster move a few months ago.

From helping Zambia to secure the Olympic slot, Banda has now settled in at her new home.

“I think the league is quite good. I’ve been following it from way back,” she said. “I think it’s a very interesting league, very strong. All the teams are very physical, fast. So I think it’s good for myself to improve.”

On Tuesday, she had her first official training with team-mates in preparations for the fourth coming assignment.

Her debut could arrive this weekend when Orlando host 7th placed San Diego Wave FC, becoming the second Zambian to feature in the division after Rachel Kundananji who plays at Bay FC.
