Lekki Youths urges Girl Child to combine Sports and Education

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lekki LCDA branch has urged secondary school girls in the council to combine education and Sports.

The councile while celebrating the Interational day of the Girl Child at four different secondary schools: Magbo Segun Senior high school, Idotun Junior high School, and Community Junior and Senior School.

The Guest Speaker, Hassan Abdulsalam who is a renowned Sports Journalist emphasized on the importance of Sports and education in a girl child’s life.

The renowned journalist advised them to emulate Sports icons like Chioma Ajunwa, Tobi Amusan, and Asisat Oshoala, who have made the country proud at international competitions.

He said, “A student who plays sports in school will learn 3 P’s that extend beyond the classroom level studies. Persistence, Practice, and Patience are the 3Ps in the life of an athlete which is a significant improvement in the life of a student.

“Active students work harder towards their goals, and they imbibe the philosophy of never giving up which helps them achieve their aims.

“By playing a team sport, a student learns how to lead themselves. If they are playing as a senior, they learn the importance of leading their team to victory.

“As a Girl Child, dont forget to emulates our Sports Icons who have made the country proud at several occasion.”
