CAFCL: African giants fire blanks at knockout stage

A scarcity of goals was evident as Africa’s top clubs locked horns in the first legs of the CAF Champions league ( CAFCL) last eight fixtures.

Anticipating for a goals gallore, it wasn’t the case this time, registering one goal in four games played across the continent.

The lonely goal came in Al Ahly showdown against Simba SC, Ahmed Kouka on target in fourth minute for the visitors in Tanzania on Friday.

More action unfolded on Saturday, all the three ties played on the day ending in a barren stalemate.

These included TP Mazembe versus Angola’s Atletico Petroleos in Lubumbashi, Sundowns against Young Africans and Esperance wrapped the first meetings with Ivorian champions, ASEC Mimosas.

Following the results, all is left to play in the return legs, awaiting who advances to the next round.
