Few months to National Sports Festival, Ogun govt is broke, failed to register Gateway United as NNL banned club

Ahead of the kick off the Nigeria’s second division league, the Nigeria National League (NNL), Ogun state owned club Gateway United lost their status

NNL Chief Operating Officer of the League Dr Ayo Abdulraham is in line with article 3.5 01 of the NNL rule book.

The Scribe said the Board of the Nigeria National League noted with huge concern the inability of the teams to meet their financial obligations to the NNL, and fulfill other club licensing conditions for the 2023/2024 league season.

According to him, the compulsory payment of registration was agreed upon at the NNL Annual General Meeting held in Jos, Plateau State.

Confirming the status, Gateway United radon opener against Osun United was not played.

According to Osun United, “POSTPONEMENT ALERT ❌
Our @nnationalleague Match Day 1 against Gateway Utd of Abeokuta now on hold.
Gateway are having pending transactions with the league body.
