Igbajo United defeated FC EBEDEI in Benin city to secure their promotion to the Nigeria National League in a historic journey. The match was full of drama after a fantastic performance from both teams.
Adebayo Suraj scored from the penalty spot to give Igbajo United the lead in the 27th minutes of the match before Rasaq Taiwo scored from the spot in the 50th minutes of the match after centre referee pointed to the penalty spot for handle ball from Igbajo United defender.
The game went to penalty shootout after 90 minutes of battle of promotion contest. Igbajo United fc won on 5-3 to secure their promotion to the second tier of the Nigeria league.
They’ll join Osun United in the Nigeria National league next season. Two clubs will be representing Osun state in the Nigeria National league.
