Nigeria are still undisputed Africa champions-Banyana captain

Ahead of the titanic battle between Africa’s best women footballing nations, South Africa captain, Refiloe Jane isn’t carried away by their recent form against fierce rivals, Nigeria.

On the last two occasions, Banyana Banyana have gone all way to emerge triumph over the West African counterparts.

The Sassuolo midfielder still believes Nigeria is a giant and there is no basis to underestimate their superiority on the continent.

“Even though we have played Nigeria a couple of times and recently won against them, we still need to give them the respect they deserve. They are still the undisputed African champions when you look at the number of times they have ruled the continent in the WAFCON.”

Remarked as a final of the finals, the skipper remains optimistic that the visitors can still walk away with a result in Abuja.

“We have a mandate to qualify for the Olympic Games and that is what we are focused and working on as a team. We know the qualities that we have as a team and we will try to pool all that together and make sure we succeed.

it should be noted that the winner here, secures a slot to represent Africa at the Olympic finals later this year.
