Nigerian Arike, Ogunbowale explodes with Record-Breaking performance, earns Second WNBA All-Star Game MVP

Nigerian-born American guard Arike Ogunbowale became a scoring machine in the WNBA All-Star Game, leading Team WNBA to a thrilling 117-109 victory over Team USA.

In the process, she shattered the record books and secured her second All-Star Game MVP award.

Ogunbowale record for points in a single All-Star Game

Ogunbowale’s night was nothing short of historic as she erupted for 34 points, surpassing the previous record for points in a single All-Star Game.

Notably, 21 of those points came in a blistering third-quarter performance, where she drained an incredible 5 out of 7 three-pointers.

Her hot shooting continued throughout the game, finishing with 8 three-pointers made and a 10-for-20 shooting performance from the field.

She is well-rounded game extended beyond scoring, as she also dished out 6 assists.

Ogunbowale was omitted from the USA’s Olympic team, and despite the disappointment of not playing in the Olympics, she used it as motivation.

“It’s just a testament to my hard work. Regardless of the outcome, I’m going to keep playing my game, just like I do for Dallas. It feels good to get a win, even though it’s an exhibition,” she declared after the game.

The performance cemented Ogunbowale’s legacy as a two-time WNBA All-Star Game MVP, joining an elite group of players with this distinction.
