Unknown gunmen attacked Sunshine Stars Bus

Sunshine Stars Football Club faced a harrowing incident on their way to participate in Matchday 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League on Thursday at Ore-Benin Expressway.

The alarming occurrence was described in a statement by the club’s media officer, Michael Akintunde. Images showcased the extent of the damage inflicted on the Akure-based club bus, with shattered mirrors.

Expressing the deep sadness felt, Akintunde stated, “It saddens our hearts to inform Nigerians, especially football lovers, that our team was attacked a few minutes ago along Ore-Benin Expressway en route to an Elite League tie against Insurance of Benin, scheduled for this weekend.

Our ball boy was shot in the horrible attack, and our team manager, along with other club officials and players, was seriously injured.

It took the intervention of officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps to rescue the injured officials and the individual who was shot, transporting them to a nearby hospital.”
