Don’t Expect Qualification To The NPFL – Rovers Coach

Newly appointed coach of Rovers, Caleb Esu, promised fans a new era as he kicked off his tenure with a tense 1-0 victory over Coal City FC at The U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar. Utibe Archibong’s 58th-minute goal secured three crucial points.

Post-match, the former Enyimba assistant coach, in an interview with our correspondent, Emex Henshaw, expressed displeasure with his team’s performance, citing a lack of implementation of preseason strategies.

Caleb voiced his frustration, saying, “I don’t know if it’s because we’re just starting the second stanza, but our preseason preparations didn’t go according to plan. However, we’ll accept the three points.”

Quizzed about the state of the club and his aspirations, the coach who guided Dakkada to the Premiership stated, “I want to change the team’s narrative, and once I’m settled, I’ll make significant changes and implement game plans to propel them to the top.” 

While promising fans a promotion to the Premiership, he clarified it wouldn’t happen this second stanza, citing the need for proper preparation and planning. Caleb emphasized, “I’m just coming on board, and I didn’t conduct the screening for the caliber of players in the team. Once settled, I’ll implement my philosophy and playing style, assuring Cross Rivereans that Rovers will be among the top four.”

Rovers face an uphill battle, currently trailing Madiba by 11 points and Dakkada FC by four points.
