The Nigeria women football league get a new champion as Edo Queens emerge 2023/2024 season champions. They were crown champions after their one hole draw with Bayelsa Queens in the last match of Nigeria women football league super six championship.

Emem Essien scored for the Edo Queens to put them in front in the 29th minutes of the match before Zainab Olopade equalize for Bayelsa Queens with a beautiful free kick in the 49th minutes of the match. The match couldn’t produce more goals after 90th minutes of actions. The results is enough for Edo Queens to be crown champions

This the first time they we win the league in their history, they make history in Yenagoa to crown champions in a competitive super six championship. Having played five matches winning three matches, lost one and drew one to gather ten points which the closest team Bayelsa Queens gathered nine points.

The journey to the super six was very tough for the Benin base club finished second position in their group A for the regular season which Nasarawa Amazon topped the group. They turned things around in the super six.

Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at Caf Women competition later in the year.
