Niger Tornadoes secured their first away victory of the season with a commanding 3-1 win over Bendel Insurance in Benin City. The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium witnessed a memorable moment as the visitors stole the show in front of the Bendel Insurance supporters.
Chidiebere Ernest opened the scoring for the Tornadoes just 13 minutes into the encounter, setting the tone for their dominance.

Akintunde Azeez doubled the lead for the visitors with a goal in the 45th minute, adding to the pressure on Bendel Insurance. Clinton Jephta further extended Tornadoes’ lead with a goal in stoppage time of the first half.
Although Benin Arsenal managed to pull one back through Chukwudi Meze in the 85th minute, it was not enough to stage a comeback against the resolute Tornadoes.
The victory proved crucial for the Tornadoes’ league campaign as they climbed twelve positions on the log, alleviating their relegation concerns.

With 36 points from 27 games and a match in hand against Rivers United, the Tornadoes are now in a stronger position to secure their league standing.
This defeat marked Bendel Insurance’s first home loss since 2007 when they were defeated 3-0 by Heartland FC of Owerri.
