Soccer Queens celebrates NWFL Players and coaches

At the Soccer Queens Awards, which were held on Friday at the media center of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, Mercy Omokwo and Tosan Blankson were two of the greatest winners.

The winner of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership was named the category’s coach of the year, while Diana Asak-Johnson, the coach of Dannaz Ladies, was named the NWFL Championship coach of the year.

In the NWFL Premiership division, Delta Queens emerged victorious in all but two categories. Omokwo was named the winner of the Golden Boot award, and club goalie Anderline Mgbechi was ecstatic to receive the Best goalie trophy.

Chinaza Agoh of Delta Queens also emerged as the Most Valuable Player in the Premiership category while newly signed Stade de Reims midfielder, Sabastine Flourish took home the best midfielder award.

Newly signed Remo Stars Ladies defender who was with Rivers Angels last season, Esther Akudo Ogbonna clinched the best defender prize.

In the second tier NWFL Championship category, former Lakeside Queens goal banger, Dorathy Eshiet won the Most Valuable Player and highest goal scorer awards.

Sunshine Queens goalkeeper, Lucky Gift Andy won the best goalkeeper in the Championship category.

Marvelous Akpobaro (Fortress Ladies, Most Valuable Player), Victoria Collins (Chosen Generation, highest goal scorer), Hope Agoye (Heroes Queens, best goalkeeper), and Jimmy Amuagbonrie (Fortress Ladies, coach of the season) emerged as winners in the third tier NWFL Nationwide category.

The coordinator of the award, Moses Bako Nagogo hopes the award will be an annual event while seeking for partnership and sponsors from the public and private sector to make it a continuous award.
