Super Eagles Coach Saga and it’s Future

Ganiyu Muftau

It’s no more a news that Jose Peisero as parted way with the Super Eagles after his contract elapsed.

The journey to get another gaffer continue for the Nigeria Football Federation NFF at this moment.

Suggestion and recommendations have been made to choose between the local coach and the foreign coach, among the local coach that were recommended are Finidi George, Emanuel Emunike, Samson Siasia and Austin Eguevoun among others.

Foreign coach comes with diligent approach but the norms and common issues with them is owning them salary. Can the Nigeria Football Federation afford foreign coach this time around? I will tell you it’ll be difficult for the association body to cater for their needs.

I did not have problems with any selections between the foreign coach or local coach but what will be the future plans of the team is the most important issue. African cup of nations coming up next year and FIFA World Cup coming up 2026 which they can’t afford to miss.

It’s very difficult to have coaches that’ll spend long time in the national team except few countries that as happened just like the German coach Joachim löw who spent 16 years as a Germany national coach or Didier Deschamps who has been with the French national team since 2012.

It’s very important for super eagle to qualify for the next AFCON and FIFA World Cup but with the situation of things can they qualify for the two competition? It took the management to solve goalkeepers problems in the team and many challenges are there facing the team.

Nigeria football Federation must come up with long time policy in every area that will help the team achieve their goals. Welfarism at all levels must put into consideration.

Before they will appoint any coach. The coach must follow the plans that will help to grow the team.
