Why we postpone NWFL - Chief Operating Officer

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has suffered another postponement due to lack of funds and other issues.
Still on Matchday nine of the 2023/2024 season, the league has suffered it’s second postponement.

The Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, in a statement, revealed that the league matches initially scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, 2024, have been rescheduled to take place on March 20, 2024.

According to the statement, the decision to postpone these matches was deemed necessary to address several pressing issues that have arisen within the league. These include concerns surrounding match operations, funding, and officiating.

“I am directed to inform you that the league matches originally scheduled for Wednesday, 28th February, 2024 have been postponed until the 20th of March, 2024.” The statement read.
“This decision has been made in order to allow us to resolve several important issues that have recently arisen, including match operations, funding and officiating.

“As such, the NWFL board has prioritized the resolution of these matters to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the league.” the statement concluded.

The league management assured that it is committed to work tirelessly to overcome the current challenges and deliver an outstanding sporting spectacle on the rescheduled date.
