The Nigeria Football Federation has emphasized the importance of a professional dress code for match commissioners working across all levels of the league system.
This directive was issued during an NFF seminar focused on enhancing the performance of match commissioners within the league.
The football governing body in the country has expressed concern over the growing practice of wearing jerseys while officiating games. As a response, the Federation has prohibited match commissioners from using foreign clubside jerseys or Nigerian club side jerseys during their official duties. Instead, they are encouraged to wear suits or blazers.
In addition to this dress code change, the NFF seminar, which aims to elevate the capabilities of match commissioners, coincides with the upcoming resumption of the NNL on October 28th.
The NFF has also declared that the use of foreign and Nigerian club jerseys will be restricted during technical coordination meetings. Furthermore, the NFF has reaffirmed the authority of match commissioners over the state FA secretary while reinstating their control over match proceedings.
