With momentum gradually building for the third edition of The Professor Akin Oyebode Cup, the sponsor of the competition, Hon Akintunde Oyebode has declared that the tournament is a long-term commitment to discovering exceptional talents, and supporting the development of the younger generation.

Speaking at a virtual media parley for the competition’s next edition on Wednesday, Oyebode reiterated the commitment to developing talents, promoting education, and gender neutrality remains unwavering, and that football can be a valuable tool for personal growth and development.

According to the Hon Commissioner who is also the Chairman of the forum of Finance Commissioners in Nigeria, the aim is to provide a platform for young talents to excel in football and continuously contribute to the society.

“In total, it is important that the games must be played in the right spirit, the players must be truly under the age, when we say under 15, it’s not just to win, It’s really more a talent development program than a winner-takes-all situation.”

“We will do all we can to Constantly improve on this and to elevate it. After this year and after this year, we promise that we’re going to be back again next year, even bigger and better.”, the finance guru asserted

It follows similar pronouncement at the maiden final of the competition in 2021.
