Ajibade Honored to Lead Super Falcons in Olympic Return

Emex Henshaw

Atletico Madrid forward Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed her gratitude for captaining the Super Falcons in their first Olympics match in 16 years.

With the absence of Onome Ebi in the team, Rasheedat, who captained most of the qualifiers, was handed the armband against the Brazilians. Rasheedat lived up to her responsibilities as she performed admirably in the game.

She made the remarks on her X handle, “I give all the glory to God for being able to play and captain the team at the Olympics. I am incredibly proud of the team, but it just was not our day. We will keep working to make the country proud. Thank you for your support.”

Ajibade will look to continue leading the Falcons as they aim to overcome a difficult group, having lost their first game. Her leadership and performance will be crucial as the team faces upcoming challenges.
