Blessing’s Brcae helps Bayelas Queens to beat Nasarawa Amazons in Betsy Obaseki Football Tournament

Bayelsa Queens defender Blessing Illivieda scored two goals to help her side secure a win in the Betsy Obaseki Football Tournament, defeating Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 at the University of Benin Sports Complex today.

Blessing scored both goals in the first half of the encounter, the first goal was scored in the 12 minutes of play through a well taken free-kick by the defender that beat the goalkeeper of Nasarawa Amazons.

Nasarawa Amazons defender Ayo Omosuyi handled the ball in the 18 yard box which led to a penalty, and Blessing made no mistake as she converted to make it two-nil in the 24th minute.

With the win Bayelsa Queens are top of Group B, and will trade-tackle with Confluence Queens tomorrow 25th October, 2023, and a win will see the Prosperity Girls moved to the quarter-finals.

Blessing Illivieda was named “Woman of the Match” where she was presented with a Gotv decoder.

Technical Adviser Bayelsa Queens, Domo Okara said the game was a good one but he was not happy they did not score more goals and added that he knows it’s a pre-season tournament but he will approach every game like a cup final.

On his part, standing-in coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Michael Oluwaseyi Olaoye said their next game is a must win as they are going back to the drawing board to correct the wrongs witnessed in the match against Bayelsa Queens.
