BOWFT: Edo Queens humble Remo Stars ladies, to battle Bayelsa Queens in Final

Edo Queens thrash Naija Ratels in Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament opener

Edo Queens Football Club of Benin has adavnced to the final of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament after thrashing Newly promoted NWFL side, Remo Stars ladies.

The host defeated Remo Stars 3-0 at the Western Boys High School Mini stadia in the Semi-final.

Osigwe Goodness shone like a Star in the sky with her heartwarming performance, thrilling the crowd with her moves laced with two superb goals in the first half of the game.

The utility striker opened scoring in the party in the 32nd, Suliat Abideen had earlier taken a free kick from range, which was too hot for the Remo Stars Ladies goalie, Enebeni Chiamaka to handle leading to a goal mouth scramble which fell to the path of Osigwe Goodness who wasted no time in doing what she paid for, given the home said the first goal.

Osigwe Goodness scored her second after beating Remo’s goalie with a deceiving cross from the edge of the box landing in the net to send her reserves and coaching crew into wild jubilation.

Remo Stars’ efforts in getting back in the game proved abortive as the hope was dashed off after the Center Referee spotted Ibrahim Hannah’s handball in the 53rd minute. Suliat Abideen creative midfielder of the Benin based ladies, did not fail to increase the score line to three and her tournament tally to four.

With this sweet victory, Edo Queens will now face Bayelsa Queens in the final of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament on Wednesday by 5 pm.

To reach the final, Edo Queens FC spanked Naija Ratels 3-0 in the opening game of the tournament, went further to record 2-1 against Remo Stars Ladies in a highly contested match, they also beat Heartland Queens by 2-1 and sealed the semi’s with another 3-0 against Mathew Wemimo side to get to the finals.

While Remo Stars will be up against Delta Queens for third place at the venue by 3 pm Nigerian time.
