NWFL: Edo Queens in Lagos for double over Robo Queens

Edo Queens are in Lagos to search for a double victory against Robo Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) matchday nine encounter.

The clubs intensify their race for the Super Six. On Wednesday afternoon, at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, the Edo Queens will face the Robo Queens in the return leg of the 2023–24 NWFL Premiership title fight.

Standing 3rd in Group B with 13 points, in the abridged league, Edo Queens is optimistic that Victory will smile on them tomorrow as they tackle their age long rival at on Wednesday.

The Benin-City based girls have had an edge over the Emmanuel Osahon – led Eko girls. In the 2022/23 league season, Edo Queens defeated FC Robo both home and away, also at the start of the new season, Edo Queens hosted FC Robo in Benin and won by 4-1.

This is not to say that they are pushovers, both teams have come a long way. They have some common attributes that make them big rivals because of the pedigree of the players and the coaches involved. It is actually going to be a tough fight because no team would want to gamble this time round knowing the critical stage we are now. The battle for the Super 6 ticket is what is in the minds of the coaches, players and officials.

For the Onikan Stadium fans, they expect to see high level display of good football artistry coming from both sides in tomorrow’s cracker.
In last week games, Edo Queens were forced by Bayelsa Queens FC to play 0-0 in Benin, while FC Robo also forced Rivers Angels to play 1-1 in Port Harcourt.
FC Robo and Edo Queens match might likely be the NWFL star game of the week. Is it actually going to be a game of the titans that will be played under tension, anxiety and apprehension. But at the end of duration time, a winner must emerge.
