Osun State ready to host Sports Festival Southwest Zonal Elimination

Osun State is set to host the South-West Sports Festival Southwest Zonal Elimination of the National Sports Festival.

The competition, aimed at selecting athletes to represent the region at the main event in Delta State, will take place later this month.

Following an inspection of sports facilities in Osogbo, Ogun State’s Acting General Manager of Sports, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Alade, expressed satisfaction with Osun’s preparations.

She praised the state’s facilities, stating, “What we have here is manageable. The facilities here are good, and some states don’t even have this sort of facilities. Although there’s room for improvement, it’s manageable.”

Ogun State has also confirmed its readiness for the competition, with Mrs. Alade emphasizing their commitment to securing a spot at the National Youth Games.


Over 200 athletes from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti States will compete in various sports including football, basketball, handball, volleyball, hockey, baseball/softball, beach volleyball, and rugby.
