Valiant stumble to Gbagada at home in Lagos derby

TCC League: Valiant targets for Victory of the season against Iganmu

Gbagada continued their fine record against Valiant as they came from a goal down to win 4-2 at the Onikan Stadium on Thursday. It was a game to live up to its billing as six goals were scored in 90 minutes.

Both sides came into this contest winless. Valiant had a point while Gbagada had opened the campaign with two defeats.

As seen in their previous meetings, goals came in the first half as Valiant got themselves into the lead after 15 minutes through Sanusi Maleek and this was after goalkeeper Hammed Saheed had made a brilliant stop to deny Ayuba Lawal from handing the visitors the lead.

That lead lasted only two minutes as the Blue Eagles scored via Temitope Olushola after some questionable defending by the defenders of Valiant. It stayed even until the interval.

Shortly after the game resumed, Akinyelu Olajide’s Gbagada went into the lead for the first time through Semiu Fabayi in the 49th minute when he headed home from a corner before the home side got back on level terms six minutes later through own-goal from Segun Alfred.

Gbagada stepped things up after the hour mark and they went ahead to score twice in the remaining half-hour to claim their first win of the season. Rilwan Gbadamosi scored first before setting up Alfred for the icing on the cake.

The win extended Gbagada’s dominance to seven games in the TCC League where they have never lost to the Brave Boys.
