Dollar, Naira Rain On MVPs At Adewale Isa Tennis Finale

The youngsters who were adjudged the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) at the recently concluded Adewale Isa Foundation Junior Tennis Championship must have found a hard time putting to words the feeling they had when they were called out.

At the Adewale Isa Foundation Tennis Championship, the MVPs at the players identified with potentials to become future and generational stars in tennis, and whose attitudes are quite impressive off the court.

And at the 5th edition of the championship which ended on Saturday, 17 August, 2024, the youngsters who were identified for their relentlessness during the week-long event were generously rewarded by the organizers of the tournament.

Before announcing the players chosen as beneficiaries of the award, Alhaja Yinka Adigun, the eldest daughter of the late Alhaji Adewale Isa in whose memory the tournament is being held, explained that the MVPs are special to the foundation.

The excited Mrs. Adigun went ahead to reveal that she had mentioned at the last edition of the event that this year’s MVPs would go home with something really special before making the announcements.

When Rejoice Adeniyi from Kogi State and Godwin Afaramai from Lagos State were announced as the winners in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively, the spectators went wild with excitement as it was unprecedented.

HRM, Oba Moroof Oluwa, the Olu of Iwa Kingdom in Apapa, presented an envelope to the youngsters and despite not knowing what was in the envelope that was being handed to the youngster, guests were so impressed that they rained naira on the recipients of the honour.

While presenting the envelopes containing $50 cash to each of the U-12 players, Oba Oluwa also rained cash on the youngsters as other guests, including Chief Kola Adigun, stepped up to add wads of naira notes to the gifts in the envelopes.

The prize for the MVPs was sent to the players courtesy of Avari Garcia, a tennis enthusiast from the United States.
