NRFF Holds Annual Congress December 6

news

The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation is scheduled to conduct its annual Congress on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

The information was communicated through an official statement from the federation’s secretariat, signed by the Secretary General, Oludare Davies.

The Congress, to be held via the Zoom video conferencing platform, will include the participation of state chairmen and their secretaries, club representatives, and stakeholders in the rugby community.

This marks the federation’s second Congress since Dr. Ademola Are assumed office as the board’s leader. In a brief period, the federation played a crucial role in overturning the ban imposed on Nigeria by World Rugby, secured sponsorship deals with ValueJet and Bugawin, entered into a marketing partnership with SYDA, and participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to South Africa.

Despite encountering financial hurdles, the federation successfully hosted the National Sevens Women’s Rugby Championship in Asaba, Delta.
Team Edo claimed the victory having defeated Gosar Rugby Club from Lagos. Additionally, the federation conducted a series of training programs for referees and coaches to keep officials updated with the latest information about the game.
