Good news for sports fans in Ondo State! Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the long-awaited upgrade of the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital. This decision comes as part of the current administration’s commitment to revitalizing critical infrastructure across Ondo.

The upgrade will encompass major renovations within the stadium complex, including the main bowl and football pitch. Additionally, the indoor sports hall and swimming pool will also receive much-needed improvements.

“The rehabilitation of the Ondo State Sports Complex has been long overdue,” said Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye. This project aims to modernize the facilities to meet international standards, allowing the stadium to host a wider range of sporting competitions.

The Ondo State Sports Complex is the home ground for Sunshine Stars FC, Akure’s beloved professional football team. This upgrade promises to not only elevate the fan experience but also potentially attract more prestigious sporting events to the state.
