Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has received praise from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh for his pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s groundbreaking Bundesliga triumph.
Bayer Leverkusen clinched their maiden Bundesliga title, ending Bayern Munich’s 11-year reign, with a commanding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Boniface played a starring role in the historic win, opening the floodgates with a goal.
Despite enduring a three-month injury layoff, the 22-year-old emerged as Leverkusen’s top scorer for the 2023/24 season, netting 18 goals across all competitions.

In his first start since recovering from a groin surgery that sidelined him since January, Boniface made a significant impact by converting a penalty in the 25th minute to set the tone for Leverkusen’s triumph.
CAF, acknowledging Boniface’s outstanding season, expressed on their official X handle, “They said there’s a first time for everything, so Boniface made sure the first was his.”

Oliseh, a former Bundesliga champion with Borussia Dortmund, echoed the sentiments, praising Boniface’s exceptional qualities and predicting future success for him and the Nigerian national team. He wrote on his official handle, “Victor Boniface was once again extraordinary as Leverkusen grabbed its first-ever Bundesliga title… Congrats bro.”
With Leverkusen securing their maiden Bundesliga crown, Boniface now sets his sights on further success, aiming to lead his team to glory in the DFB-Pokal and UEFA Europa League, completing a potential treble.
